Biography

Artemisia Beman Snow (1819-1882) was an early convert to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the first wife of Erastus Fairbanks Snow.

Artemisia Beman was born on March 3, 1819 to Alvah Beman and Sarah Elizabeth Burtts Beman in New York and was the youngest of three daughters. With her family she converted to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the early 1830s, and remained devoted to her faith for the rest of her life. She married Erastus Fairbanks Snow on December 13, 1838 at age 19 and together they had eleven children. She traveled with her husband and family to Utah as part of the migration to the West. She died in St. George, Utah on December 21, 1882 at 63 years old.

Scope and Contents Collection contains materials relating to the family temple work of Erastus Snow and Artemisia Beman Snow. Materials include five volumes of records of Mormon temple ordinances performed by and for the Erastus and Artemisia Beman Snow family between 1884 and 1930. Volumes include three volumes of "Temple Record" books and one untitled temple record book, for the Beman side of the family; one "Record of the Dead" book kept by Erastus Snow for the Snow side of the family; and one "L.D.S....
