Biography

R. Calvin Withers (1920-2009) was a Army veteran and father.

R. Calvin Withers was born on May 30, 1920 in Riverton, Utah to parents Richard Thomas and Annie Thompson Withers. He was the oldest of 10 siblings. He married Kathleen Brewer on April 10, 1941. They were later sealed in the LDS temple on December 7, 1965. Together they had 5 children. Following the death of his first wife Kathleen, Calvin married Ruby Smith on December 15, 2000. She passed away on October 26, 2009.

Calvin served in the Army during World War II. He was stationed in the Philippines and earned several medals during his deployment, including a rifle marksmanship awary. He was a member of the American Legion for 45 years.

He passed away on November 21, 2009 in Murray, Utah. He is buried in West Jordan, Utah.
