Biographical History
Francis Dickson Hubbel (1841-1862) was a soldier in the American Civil War.
Francis Dickson Hubbel, or Frank D. Hubbel, was born on August 13, 1841 in Hillsboro, Illinois to parents Eleazer Burr and Eliza C. Gaston Hubbel. Hubbel enlisted as a volunteer in the Illinois infantry on April 16, 1861, and was part of Company H of Regiment 9 of the Illinois Infantry. He spent time as a Corporal and was later made First Sergeant.
Francis was killed at the age of twenty on April 6, 1862 in Tennessee during the Battle of Shiloh. He was buried in Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro.
