Biographical History

Kenneth Edward Weight (1899-1983) was a superintendent of Box Elder County Schools.

Kenneth E. Weight was born on May 28, 1899 in Springville, Utah, to parents Joseph Henry and Nancy Rheuama Johnson Weight. He attended Brigham Young University from 1919 to 1922, where he participated in the barsity track and basketball teams. He married Tryphena Brimhall on December 21, 1922, and they had three children together. He worked as a schoolteacher, working for the United States Forest Service during his summers. He received a master's degree from Brigham Young University in 1928. From 1937 to 1947, he was the principal of Provo High School, after which he served as the superintendent of Box Elder County Schools from 1949 to 1959. After he retired from education, he continued to serve the community as chairman of the Utah County Council on Aging from 1971 to 1976. He also served in a variety of church capacities throughout his life. He died on March 18, 1983.

Materials consist of a Brigham Young University track warm-up cloak and pennant collected by Kenneth E. Weight. Materials also include a life history prepared by Weight, both printed and on a USB flash drive. The life history was completed in 1977 but published by his family in 2014. Dated 1919-2014.
