Biographical History

June Louise Peterson Vaughn (1936- ) was a student at Brigham Young University and a KBYU radio host.

June Louise Peterson was born April 6, 1936 in Woods Cross, Davis County, Utah. During World War II, her father moved the family to Nyssa, Oregon, where he became a successful dairy farmer. June was a good student and loved reading. She was involved in Drama and Speech in High School. She graduated from Nyssa High School in 1954. She was accepted at BYU with a partial scholarship for academics. She always enjoyed public speaking and was excited to be involved with KBYU Radio Spring and Fall Semesters, 1955. In December of 1955, she was engaged to marry fellow BYU student, Larry K. Vaughn, also of Nyssa Oregon. With the engagement, June's parents did not want her to continue in school.

June raised a family of two boys and a girl--all successes in life with good families of their own. June served in many volunteer organizations in the community, including numerous callings in her local congregation of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was always involved in roadshows and other dramatic productions.

June always took an interest in projects and causes that met a special need. When her father came down with cancer, she volunteered and raised money for the American Cancer Society. When her mother began to lose her eyesight, June volunteered to record books at Reading for the Blind. She no doubt relied on the elocution skills she learned at KBYU.

June and Larry Vaughn currently reside in Nampa, Idaho.
