Biographical History

Erlend D. Peterson (born 1940) is an academic administrator in Utah.

Erlend D. Peterson was born on November 24, 1940 in St. George, Utah to Dean Andrew Peterson and Lyle Evans. A member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, he served two missions for the Church in the early 1960s to the eastern United States and to Norway. In 1968 he married Colleen Dawn Keith in the Salt Lake Temple. He attended Brigham Young University, eventually earning a doctorate in educational administration from that institution.

Peterson began working at Brigham Young University in 1966, serving in a number of positions. In 1973 he was made assistant dean of the Division of Admissions and Records, with responsibility for the university's international recruiting efforts. He then served as an associate in the David M. Kennedy Center for International Studies between 1985 and 1990, when he became the dean of Admissions and Records. In 2001 Peterson was named the associate international vice president at Brigham Young University.
