Biographical History

John Henry Weston (1887-1969) was a Union Pacific Railroad foreman and amateur photographer from Utah.

John Henry Weston was born July 31, 1887 and raised in Moroni, Utah. As a teenager, he moved to Bingham, Utah ro begin training as a railroad steam engine mechanic. He spent a short time in Lyndall, Utah, eventually moving to Milford, Utah around 1908 where he became the Union Pacific Railroad "Roundhouse" foreman for the remainder of his life. Milford was the halfway point for the Union Pacific Railroad main track line to Las Vegas and California. The crew changed here, so the town became a railroad hub. He was in charge of railroad engine maintenance and repair for over 40 years. He married Metta Schow on 2 Oct 1912 in Salt Lake City, Utah. Photography was always a major interest to him. There are hundreds of photographs documenting family, community, and events beginning in the early 1900s and continuing throughout his life. As photo equipment improved, so did the quality of his photos. He died December 25, 1969.
