Biography
Rosel Ruesch Seastrand (1932-2002) was a Brigham Young University graduate, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, and the founder of James Seastrand Helping Hands of North Las Vegas.
Rosel Ruesch Seastrand was born on December 20, 1932, in Hurricane, Utah. She attended Brigham Young University and met her husband, James Seastrand there. She left before getting her degree, but came back to school at age 65 and earned a BA in theatrical arts. James was a member of the United States Air Force. After he left the military, the couple moved to Southern Nevada. James first became mayor of North Las Vegas in 1980, where he served for 16 years total. He died in 1997. The couple had 4 children together, one daughter and three sons. Rosel founded the James Seastrand Helping Hands of North Las Vegas to gather volunteers to assist seniors in their homes. Rosel endured three heart surgeries before her death. Seastrand passed away January 20, 2002, of a heart condition.
