Biographical History

A. Lester Allen (1923-2014) was a dean of Brigham Young University's College of Biological and Agricultural Sciences.

A. Lester Allen was born September 24, 1923 to parents Charles A. and Ida L. Allen. He was raised in Los Angeles. On December 29, 1943, he married Marilyn Murphy. They had eleven children together. He served in the Panama Canal Zone during World War II, after which he received a PhD from UCLA. He was hired at BYU in 1954, and served as dean of the College of Biological and Agricultural Sciences from 1968-1981. He died March 4, 2014.
