Biographical History

Hyrum Sainsbury (1853-1907) was a photographer in Utah. He apprenticed under Charles R. Savage, and worked with George Edward Anderson. He later was a partner in Sainsbury & Johnson in Salt Lake City, Utah.

Scope and Contents Photographs taken during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries including portraits and group photographs, as well as images of historical events in and around Salt Lake City, Utah. Included are photographs of actors and actresses from the Salt Lake Theatre, prominent members of the community including Latter Day Saint leaders and members of Utah's first House of Representatives as well as Utah's first Governor. Also included in the collection are views taken while in Jerusalem...
