Biographical History

Daphne Hartle (1882-1973) was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from Colorado, New Mexico, and Utah. She was the daughter of Orville Clark Roberts.

Daphne Helena Roberts was born on December 3, 1882,in Mancos, Montezuma, Colorado in the United States to parents Orville Clark Roberts and Mary Knowlton Coray. She first married Robert Pomeroy Cooper on August 8, 1906, and after having 7 children and living in New Mexico, she divorced him in 1928. Later she married Frank Hartle on October 23, 1942. Daphne wrote an autobiography entitled "Daphne" and helped to write twoher books including one about her own personal family history. She moved to Vernal Utah in 1917 and taught at Dry Fork, Vernal, Deep Creek and Leota, Utah. She completed a nursing and obstetrics course in 1932 and became a nurse and midwife. She died on January 12, 1973, in Salt Lake City Utah.
