Biography

R. Clayton (1950-) was an educator and weatherman in Utah.

R. Clayton Brough was born in Los Angeles, California on May 29, 1950. He received his bachelor's in 1974 and master's in 1975, both in geography, from Brigham Young University. Richard continued doing climate research throughout his life. In 1978, he joined the weather team with KUTV in Salt Lake City, Utah. He was a weather reporter and climatologist at KTVX-ABC4 TV from 1980-2008. During this time he both taught at public junior high schools in Utah and in universities such as Brigham Young University and the University of Utah. He retired as a weatherman in November 2008. Richard also contributed significantly to the literature on climate and science throughout his time as a professor. Along with his educational studies, he also engaged in family history and was the Chief Genealogist for the Brough Family Organization. After about 30 years of work, he retired in 2012 and still continues to work on family history as of 2022. He married his wife Ethel Mickelson and had four children after moving from California to Provo, Utah. As of 2022, he is living in Utah with his wife Ethel.

Scope and Contents

Collection of photographs assembled by Brough during the preparation of his book on Mosida, Utah. Includes 23 photographs and 12 safety film negatives, with images of Mosida and its irrigation facilities. Photographic processes possibly include sulfur-toned DOP, albumen, matte albumen, platinum, sepia paltinotype, gold-toned matte collodion, gelatin silver, collodion POP, and tintypes. Dated approximately 1919.
