Biography
Joseph Howard McGibbeny (1889-1970) was a photographer and writer on Indigenous Americans.
Joseph Howard McGibbeny was born on November 16, 1889, in Mount Oliver, Pennsylvania to John Phillips McGibbeny and Amelia Jane Fisher. He served in the United States Army and Navy as well as served in World War I. He married Ruth Grace Evans on October 15, 1930, in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from the University of Arizona. McGibbeny traveled Arizona and Utah as a photographer. He went on to become a lecturer on Indigenous American life. He published photographs in Arizona Highways and other publications. McGibbeny was the writer of Utah's Fair-Trade Law. He died on April 18, 1970, in Salt Lake City, Utah.
