Joseph Smith Papers, via WWW, March 3, 2014 (born in 1804 at Willingborough Township (later Harmony), Susquehanna, Pennsylvania; parents Isaac Hale and Elizabeth Lewis; well educated; member of the Methodist Church; baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints by Oliver Cowdrey in 1830; married Joseph Smith Jr. on January 18, 1827, in New York; eleven children, six of whom died early deaths; with Joseph Smith on the night he obtained the records from which The Book of Mormon; scribe during part of the translation; prominent member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, "elect lady"; editor of "A Collection of Sacred Hymns, for the Church of the Latter Day Saints," published in 1835; first Relief Society president in 1842; moved around to escape mobs, husband imprisoned; Joseph Smith was murdered in June 1844, she stayed in Nauvoo; married Lewis Crum Bidamon; affiliated with the Reorganized Church of Latter-day Saints; lived in Nauvoo; d. Photocopies of handwritten and typed letters, histories, interviews, diaries, pamphlets, and newspapers. The materials relate to a large range of topics in the early history of the Mormon Church; Joseph Smith, second president of the Mormon Church; and his family. Interviewees include Smith family members and those who knew them. The items were copied by Donald Q. Cannon as part of the continuing Mormon Church History Sources Project.
Emma Hale Smith certificate
Printed form with handwritten entries. The item is dated 17 July 1844 and is signed. Emma Smith accepts responsibility for the estate of her husband, Joseph Smith.
H. H. Cluff cartes-de-visite and tintypes
Collection includes 170 photographs and four tintypes. All images are cartes-de-visite of Provo and Utah residents. Includes images of Brigham Young, John Taylor, Wilford Woodruff, Orson Pratt, and Emma Smith. Collection also includes a photocopy of the complete album as originally created by H.H. Cluff, available in the collection case file.

Hancock County, Illinois summonses
Handwritten and printed summonses for Joseph Smith, first president of the Mormon Church, and John C. Bennett, and apostle in the Mormon Church. Also included is a receipt from Emma Hale Smith, first wife of Joseph Smith, made out to Thomas Sharp.
May Louise Hunt Larson papers
Holographs, typescripts, and photocopies. The collection includes writings by Larson concerning the move her family made from Utah to Arizona, a history of Snowflake Latter-day Saint Stake Academy, biographies of Addison Pratt and Emma Hale Smith, and a birthdate record of members of the Snowflake Latter-day Saint Stake, Arizona. Also includes a biography of Larson by her daughter, Louise L. Comish and Larson's funeral program.
Smith family legal instruments
Handwritten and printed legal instruments relating to Emma Hale Smith (1804-1879), wife of the Mormon Prophet, Joseph Smith (1805-1844). One of the items deals with the payment of taxes owed on certain properties in the county. The other item is a statement of guardianship and real estate inheritances relating to the children of Emma Smith and signed by her.

Typewritten book draft with handwritten corrections. The item is an early draft of "Mormon Enigma" which length was later reduced as requested by the publisher, Doubleday & Company. The manuscript is a biography of Emma Hale Smith, first wife of the first president of the Mormon Church, Joseph Smith.
