Biography

Simeon Atwood (1814-1889) was a pioneer of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Simeon Atwood was born on April 12, 1814 to Hezekiah Atwood and Chloe Ann Rowley in Mendon, Monroe, New York. He was married to Melissa Terrell on September 30, 1834 as well as at least five other wives and was father to at least ten children. Simeon departed with his wife Melissa and four children in 1862 to travel to Utah with the James S. Brown Company of pioneers. He died on June 6, 1889 in Spanish Fork, Utah.

Handwritten and signed letter, dated 17 Jan. 1863, and addressed to Brigham Young, the second president of the Mormon Church. Atwood expresses the need for seed and equipment until after the harvest.
