Biographical History
John E. Hayes (1880-1062) was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and an academic administrator in Utah.
John Edward Hayes was born on January 13, 1880 in Pleasant Grove, Utah to John Phipps Hayes and Eleanor Jane Hayes. He was raised a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and attended Brigham Young Academy. In 1903 he married Harriet Elizabeth Jeffs, and they had five children. After his wife's death in 1919 he remarried to Hariett Lott Harris. They had two children.
Hayes did some teaching at Brigham Young University beginning in 1903, and was appointed registrar in 1904. He remained in the post until his retirement in 1955.
John E. Hayes passed away on August 22, 1962 in Los Angeles, California.
