Biography

Kenneth Owen Ash (1936-2020) was a industrial researcher, professor of pathology at the University of Utah and member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Kenneth Owen Ash was born August 21, 1936 to Leonard Owen and Donna (Olphin) Ash in Lehi, Utah. He married Margel Hamilton on June 21, 1956 in Salt Lake City, Utah. The two had four children: Julie, Todd, Scott and Margel Lynn. He earned a PhD in biochemistry from BYU in 1961 and spent several years doing industrial research for General Mills and Honeywell.

Following his education and industrial career, Owen became a professor of pathology at the Univeristy of Utah. There he helped found the Associated Regional and University Pathologists, or ARUP, which he considered his greatest professional accomplishment. Owen was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He died on April 16, 2020.
