July 2, 1871 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Richard Kendall and Caroline Stockdale Thomas; attended LDS Business College and the University of Deseret; wrote for University Chronicle, Young Woman's Journal and the Relief Society Magazine; never married; travelled frequently to the East and West coasts, as well as to Europe, and spent several years in New York City; wrote educational articles for Mormon publications; campaigned for the establishment of the League of Nations; patron, if not a participant, in the arts and theater in Utah; received national recognition for her poem, Hymn of the Pioneer; d. Collection contains mission correspondence from friends and family during Nystrom's mission to Europe between 1897 and 1899. The majority of the letters are from Kate Thomas, a friend of Theodore Nystrom. Her letters, often long, detail events in Salt Lake City, Utah prior to and during the Spanish-American War.
