Deseret News obitary site for Jul. 2, 1988, viewed May 18, 2011: (Reginald Beales; b. Oct. 10, 1898, in Bradford, Yorkshire, England; emigrated to Utah, 1915; settled in Lewiston, Cache County; began playing the violin aged 8; performed background music for silent movies in England when 14; served a church mission to the Eastern states; studied violin in New York City; returned to Salt Lake City to conduct the orchestra at the American Theater on Main Street; taught violin at the McCune School of Music for 25 years; organized and conducted the Federal Music Project Symphony Orchestra in the late 1930s and early 1940s, which was the forerunner and nucleus of the Utah Symphony; played in concerts and on radio programs; taught violin; he and his wife, Artimesia Jensen, went on a church mission to Scotland, 1966-1968; honored by Gov. Calvin L. Rampton and the University of Utah for his outstanding service to music in Utah, 1977; d. July 1, 1988)
