Bound, typewritten, carbon copy of William Burton's journal (1841-1851), which includes extracts from Joseph Wood's journal (1839-1840). The record gives a detailed account of the journey to Utah with Brigham Young and Heber C. Kimball in 1848, missionary experiences, and some family genealogy.

Levi Jackman diary

Scope and Contents Handwritten diary. Jackman made the overland journey from Illinois to Utah in 1847 with the first company of Mormon pioneers. He writes about travelling conditions, weather, frequent encounters with Indians, and buffalo hunting. Jackman's company was led by Brigham Young, second president of the Mormon Church. The memorandum of Mary H. Parker

Scope and Contents

Photocopy of a handwritten autobiographical account. Mary Richards writes about her conversion to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in England, resistance after her baptism, and talks a lot about her association with Heber C. Kimball, an apostle in the LDS Church. Also included is a newspaper clipping which is an obituary of Phinehas Richards, Mary's father-in-law and an early settler of Sanpete County, Utah.
