Biographical History

The Kerr family (starting with Clifton and Irene Kerr), is a prominent family in the Box Elder County region of Utah. With both sides hailing from pioneer ancestry, Clifton is probably the most prominent--having served not only as a politician in Box Elder County, but also a mission president in the British Isles--presiding during the construction of the London England Temple.

The Kerr family--most notably the Clifton and Irene Kerr family--is a prominent pioneer family in Box Elder County, Utah. When looking at Clifton and Irene's ancestors, both came to Utah as pioneers. On the one hand, Clifton's parents William and Rosaland hailed from England, where, between the late-1800s to the early 1900s, they eventually traveled from their homes to settle in the Utah area to have five children: three boys and two girls. On the other hand, Irene's family, the Packs, hailed as New Brunswick immigrants to New York--where he joined the Church in 1839. After joining the Church, he and his family traveled through various important locations of Church history (including Nauvoo, Winter Quarters, and the Salt Lake Valley) and John Pack, Irene's grandfather, served as a missionary to France and the Channel Islands.

As for the Irene and Clifton family themselves, after marrying in 1931, the couple served in many important roles in the Box Elder County, Utah community. While Irene served in many important Church callings in the community including Stake Relief Society president, Clifton not only served as a State Representative and State Senator for Box Elder County, but between 1953-1956, he served as a Mission President to the British Isles (where he served as a missionary himself years early) assisting in the construction of London England Temple.
