Hewes; men in the family fought in the American army in the Revolutionary War; participated in the Boston Tea Party; captured by the British and forced to serve in their army and the story of his escape; relationships between settlers and Indians; protected by Indians while husband was gone; 19th Century medicine, including one of the first prosthetic hands and premature baby care).
