Lorenzo Snow letter

Abstract

The folder contains a printed letter addressed to B. F. Cummings, Jr. and dated 8 September 1894. The item is a form letter in which Cummings' name was handwritten. Snow, then president of the Salt Lake Temple of the Mormon Church, requests donations of books to build up the library of that temple.

Lorenzo Snow letters to Margaret Pierce Whitesides Young

Photocopies of two handwritten and signed letters addressed to Margaret P. Young. The items are a birthday greeting from Snow and his wife, Minnie Jensen Snow, and a call for Young to work in the Salt Lake Temple of the Mormon Church.

Ms. on graph paper: the collection includes analyses of the acid and base content in the different water sources in the Salt Lake Basin, and of constituent percentages of granite used in building the Salt Lake Temple. Also added is a notation giving the analyses of the water of the Great Salt Lake by Professor D.Q. Allen, 1869.

Handwritten and printed lists of names and dates when temple work was done for them. The item records when persons were given Mormon rights by proxy in the Salt Lake Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. The records were apparently kept by Jorgen Rasmussen and Valborg R. Anderson.

Wilford Woodruff ticket

Printed invitation to the dedication of the Salt Lake Temple of the Mormon Church. Woodruff's signature on the item was placed there by some kind of mechanical reproductive process.

Scope and Contents Handwritten and signed letter dated 27 Feb. 1853 and addressed to Samuel W. Richards in Liverpool, England. The item was composed in Salt Lake City, Utah. Young reports on the condition of Utah at the end of a severe winter during which the Utahns received no mail from outside the territory. Ribbon. The item states "Brigham Young" and presents his portrait. Under the portrait is a representation of the Mormon Temple in Salt Lake City, Utah. Under that, "Temple Salt Lake City," is written. The date of creation of the item is uncertain. It may have something to do with the dedication of the temple.
