Administrative History

The Mountain States Athletic Conference was formed in 1938 by seven charter institutions which had formerly been part of the Rocky Mountain Faculty Athletic Conference. It was active until 1962, during which period Brigham Young University remained a member. It was often informally referred to as the Skyline Conference. E.L. Romney was appointed the commissioner of the conference in 1949, and was succeeded by Paul Brechler in 1960.
