Administrative History

The Brigham Young University Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering was formed in 1994 from the earlier Department of Civil Engineering. It provides instruction in civil and environmental engineering, including water resources, soils, and transportation engineering. The department was under the direction of the College of Engineering and Technology until 2004, when the college was renamed as the Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering and Technology.

Scope and Contents

The collection consists exclusively of files documenting Barton's career in civil engineering. It includes university course materials and student reports (including theses and dissertations), Barton's research proposals, notes, reports, articles written by Barton, and papers presented at various conferences, as well as slides and photos of Barton's research subjects and professional circulars.
