Biography
The Union Pacific Railroad Company was established in 1862. It later merged with the Kansas Pacific Railway Company and the Denver Pacific Railway and Telegraph Company to form the Union Pacific Railway Company.

Engineering survey report
Handwritten report which relates to the engineering problems concerning the Union Pacific Railroad construction in Utah and the work completed in laying railway lines immediately east of Salt Lake City, Utah during 1867.
Joseph Smith Larkin diary
Photocopy of a handwritten diary. Larkin writes about his experiences and abservations while working for the railroad. He also tells about his family, friends, local residents, and life at Kelton, Utah.
Thomas B. Morris letter
Handwritten letter addressed to "My dear Father." Morris writes about the search for timber and coal for the railroad.
William Wollerton Riter letter
Handwritten and signed letter, dated September 12, 1876, and addressed to George Reynolds. The item was written in Echo, Utah. Riter instructs Reynolds to request information of Union Pacific Railroad Company directors to see if sufficient transportation would be furnished during the fall and winter.
