Biography
The Church of Jesus Christ of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (established 1830) is a restorationist Christian church with a world-wide membership. Originally established in Upstate New York by Joseph Smith, Jr., the church is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. In the past, it was commonly abbreviated as the LDS Church or the Mormon Church.
During the 1820s, the church's founder, Joseph Smith, experienced visions and was led to the golden plates from which the Book of Mormon was translated. The Church was officially founded by Joseph Smith on April 6, 1830, in Palmyra, New York. The members of the religion faced a series of persecutions, and eventually fled to Utah for refuge beginning in 1847. The Church continued to grow and expand beyond Utah, and with membership later numbering over 16 million. It is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Presidents of the Church have included Joseph Smith Jr. (1832-1844), Brigham Young (1847-1877), John Taylor (1880-1887), Wilford Woodruff (1889-1898), Lorenzo Snow (1898-1901), Joseph F. Smith (1901-1918), Heber J. Grant (1918-1945), George Albert Smith (1945-1951), David O. McKay (1951-1970), Joseph Fielding Smith (1970-1972), Harold B. Lee (1972-1973), Spencer W. Kimball (1973-1985), Ezra Taft Benson (1985-1994), Howard W. Hunter (1994-1995), Gordon B. Hinckley (1995-2008), Thomas S. Monson (2008-2018), and Russell M. Nelson (2018- ).

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Southern States Mission records
Photocopies of handwritten church records including minutes of meetings and newspaper clippings. Most of the items relate to the activies of the Mormon Church in Florida including the creation of the Florida Stake. The district clerk who recorded the minutes was Joseph S. Copeland.
Franklin Clark papers
Collection contains information about the personal life of Franklin Clark, and includes journals, letters, papers, genealogical records, and historical documents. Historical documents and letters cover the period from 1899 to 1901. Genealogical records are undated. Franklin Clark journals cover the period from 1899 to 1901. Photocopied Edward Watkin Clark journal covers the period from 1847 to 1903.
Benjamin Cluff diaries
Contains four diaries and their respective transcripts covering the period from 1881-1909 and detailing Cluff's time as a student at Brigham Young Academy and the University of Michigan, as well as his subsequent appointment as President of the Academy. Also describes his activities and experiences as a plantation owner in Tabasco, Mexico.
David Foster Cluff mission diaries
The David Foster Cluff mission diaries consist of five diaries from David Cluff's mission to Samoa from 1894-1898.
John Robert Cluff journal
Contains journal entries documenting Cluff's service as a Mormon missionary in the Eastern States Mission, 1903 to 1906. Later entries (1910-1918) document his life in the Teton Basin, Idaho.
