Biography
The Church of Jesus Christ of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (established 1830) is a restorationist Christian church with a world-wide membership. Originally established in Upstate New York by Joseph Smith, Jr., the church is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah. In the past, it was commonly abbreviated as the LDS Church or the Mormon Church.
During the 1820s, the church's founder, Joseph Smith, experienced visions and was led to the golden plates from which the Book of Mormon was translated. The Church was officially founded by Joseph Smith on April 6, 1830, in Palmyra, New York. The members of the religion faced a series of persecutions, and eventually fled to Utah for refuge beginning in 1847. The Church continued to grow and expand beyond Utah, and with membership later numbering over 16 million. It is headquartered in Salt Lake City, Utah.
Presidents of the Church have included Joseph Smith Jr. (1832-1844), Brigham Young (1847-1877), John Taylor (1880-1887), Wilford Woodruff (1889-1898), Lorenzo Snow (1898-1901), Joseph F. Smith (1901-1918), Heber J. Grant (1918-1945), George Albert Smith (1945-1951), David O. McKay (1951-1970), Joseph Fielding Smith (1970-1972), Harold B. Lee (1972-1973), Spencer W. Kimball (1973-1985), Ezra Taft Benson (1985-1994), Howard W. Hunter (1994-1995), Gordon B. Hinckley (1995-2008), Thomas S. Monson (2008-2018), and Russell M. Nelson (2018- ).

Schuyler Colfax letters
Handwritten and signed letters, dated 1878, and addressed to "Dear Sir." Colfax writes from South Bend, Indiana, about the political and social situation in Utah and urges that the fight against Mormons be continued.
Richard W. Jackson and P. Bradford Westwood collection of oral histories
Typewritten and spiral bound transcript of interviews conducted by Richard W. Jackson and P. Bradford Westwood for the James Moyle Oral History Program. The interview between Ehlers and Jackson was initiated on the premise of a forth coming history of the LDS Church meeting house architecture. A follow up interview (conducted two years later) was conducted by P. Bradford Westwood, in hopes to gain clarification in certain areas from the initial interview.
Don Byron Colton papers
Collection includes several forms of documentation of Don Byron Colton's participation within The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a biography written by his wife, Grace S. Colton. Also included are several artifacts such as spectacles, a wooden hatchet, and ties.
Arthur B. Cutler papers
Contains a diary, correspondence, government documents, mission calls and releases, photographs, and a photo album has been organized into three boxes. The first box contains the diary and papers of Arther Cutler. The second box contains photocopies of photographs and the photo album. The third box contains the original photographs and photo album of the collection. Additionally, the photographs have been separated into three series: studio portraits, snapshots, and photo album.

Photocopied handwritten article which was previously published in the "Millennial Star", vol. 22, a publication of the Mormon Church. The article contains a description of the physical features of Jesus.
Did he or didn't he baptize with water and the Holy Ghost
Typewritten theological essay. Paul addresses the question of whether Jesus Christ bestowed the Holy Ghost after water baptism upon members of the early Christian Church.
James Duckworth scrapbook
Newsclippings pasted into a blank book believed to have been created by James Duckworth. Most of the clippings were taken from the "Deseret News" and relate to Mormon Church topics including history and doctrine. Some of the items were written by Mormon Church leaders.
Wilberforce Eames letter
Handwritten and signed letter dated 17 Oct. 1921 and addressed to a Mr. Knight. Eames informs Knight that he has already purchased a copy of Salter Nelson's "Fruits of Mormonism" for the library.
East family papers
Contains reminiscences of Edward Wallace East, a letter written by Eliza R. Snow to Willmirth Greer East discussing the gospel in the mid to late-1800s, and other materials related to the East family.
