Biography

The Skaggs Institute of Retail Management (1976-1995) was an administrative unit in the Marriott School of Management at Brigham Young University.

The Skaggs Institute of Retail Management was established in 1976. It was funded by a gift of The Skaggs Companies of Salt Lake City. The Institute was founded to instruct students to be leaders in the retail field. It also produced research to advance the industry of retail management, as well as workshops and seminars to instruct students in these advances and trends. Directors of the program include: E. Doyle Robinson (1977-1983), Susan G. Carter (1983-1984), E. Doyle Robinson (1985-1992), Heikki J. Rinne (1992-1995), and William R. Swinyard as co-director with Heikki J. Rinne (1994-1995).
