Administrative History

The Public Relations Division (1955-1964) was an administrative unit at Brigham Young University. The division was responsible for coordinating relationships between the university and external entities and to organize campus activities.

The Public Relations Division was established in 1955 by Dean A. Peterson, and reported directly to the university administration. It administered a number of units, including the Student Program Bureau (1955-1958), the Program Bureau (1958-1964), the Lectures and Musicals Committee (1955-1964), the News Bureau (1955-1964), the BYU Service Letter Committee (1955-1964), and Campus Tours and Conferences (1961-1964). The unit was later reorganized as the University Relations Division in 1964.

Directors included Dean A. Peterson (1955-1957) and Lester B. Whetten (1957-1964).
