Administrative History
The Stenographic Bureau (1921-1933) was a campus service at Brigham Young University. The bureau provided typewriting and dictation services to students and faculty.
The Stenographic Bureau was established in 1923, and was affiliated with the Department of Office Practice. The bureau provided services to the campus community. It also acted as a lab for campus students that allowed them to practice their typing and shorthand skills. It also acted as a secretarial pool for campus deans, who would use the bureau for their correspondence. The bureau also provided duplication, publishing, and mailing services. The bureau was discontinued in 1933.
Managers included Florence Newell (1921-1923), Edna Holdaway (1923-1924), A. Rex Johnson (1924-1930), Keifer B. Sauls (1930-1931), and A. Rex Johnson (1931-1933).
