Administrative History

The Department of Health Education (1957-1960) was an instructional unit at Brigham Young University.

The Department of Health Education was established in 1957 in a reorganization of the earlier Department of Health Education and Safety. The department reported to the university's College of Physical Education, and taught courses leading to a degree in health education. The department also taught a required introductory course on hygiene for all incoming freshmen. In 1960 the department changed its name to the Department of Health and Safety Education.

The department chair was David D. Geddes (1957-1960).
