Administrative History

Wasatch Elementary School (est. 1948) is a public school located in Provo, Utah.

Wasatch Elementary School was built in 1948. Wasatch is an Indian name meaning "mountain path." On September 12, 1949, students began attending the new school. The school mascot is "Satch," a German shepherd that was adopted after a former teacher brought home a trinket from a trip to Germany.

The school prides itself on its academic excellence and its many teachers have worked hard to create traditions to enhance the learning that takes place at Wasatch Elementary School. Some of these traditions include: lessons in the industrial shop classroom, music programs, formal flag ceremonies, braiding the May pole, folk dance performances, and track and field day. The school also has a Chinese immersion program which began in 2009.
