Administrative History

The Department of Germanic Languages (1972-1982) was a department in Brigham Young University's College of Humanities.

The Department of Germanic Languages was established after the reorganization of the Department of Germanic and Slavic Languages. The languages taught in the department were Danish, Dutch, German, Norwegian, and Swedish. By 1979, Finnish, Icelandic, and Afrikaans were added.

Department chairmen included Arthur R. Watkins (1972-1975), Garold N. Davis (1975-1978), and Hans-Wilhelm Kelling (1978-1982).
