Administrative History

The Miss Indian BYU Pageant (1967-2007) was a outreach and recognition program conducted by the Tribe of Many Feathers.

The Tribe of Many Feathers created the Miss Indian BYU Pageant in 1967 to be conducted in conjunction with Indian Week (now Heritage Week). The program was meant to select a ambassador for the American Indian students at Brigham Young University, representing that group at campus events and acting as a hostess during Indian Week. Contestants were required to be members of the Tribe of Many Feathers, to have at least one-half Indian ancestry, to be able to represent their tribal culture, to own their own regalia, and to perform 50 hours of community service.

The pageant was held from 1967-1985, 1987-1990, and 2001-2006.
