Administrative History
The Student Health Center (1957- ) is a medical center that provides basic health services at Brigham Young University.
The Student Health Center was established on campus in 1957 in the Howard S. McDonald Building. Prior to that time, services were provided by a small medical staff as part of the office of the Dean of Students. The center offered a range of services, including doctor or nurse consultation, pharmacy, immunizations, physical therapy, laboratory tests, x-rays, urgent care, pediatrics, and a variety of specialties. In 1999 the center was moved to a new building near the Wymount apartments. Center directors included Allen Barker (1957-1960), Richard Nimer (1960-1962), Jack B. Trunnell (1962-1964), Cloyd Hofheins (1964-1994), Denton J. Cameron (1994-1999), Val H. Christensen (Administrative, 1999-2000), James P. Clarke (Medical, 1999-2001), Rulon J. Barlow (Administrative, 2000- ), Robert P. Romney (Medical, 2001-2006), Lloyd E. Hoffman (Medical, 2006-2007) and Keith D. Willmore (Medical, 2007- ).
