Biography

The Centennial Carillon Tower (dedicated 1975) is a bell tower on Brigham Young University campus in Provo, Utah.

The Centennial Carillon Tower was dedicated by President Spencer W. Kimball in October 1875 during Brigham Young University's centennial celebration events. Standing 90 feet tall, the tower contains a practice room, clavier room, and a belfry, with 52 cast bronze bells from Holland. Daily on the hour, the bells play a tune based on the hymn "Come, Come Ye Saints" followed by chimes to represent the hour. School of Music professor Don Cook has been BYU university carillonneur since 1991. The bells are also played for concerts and other special occasions. The carillon was completely renovated in 1993 with new keyboards and mechanism and was rehung on a revised frame with space for the addition of 2 brass bells in the future.
