Administrative History
The first meeting of the Young Men's Institute of the Salt Lake City Twentieth Ward commenced on January 20, 1873. At this meeting, a Board of Directors was elected, which included, most notably, famed educator Karl G. Maeser. Throughout the organization's meetings, lectures by prominent leaders of the Church were given on both religious and secular topics. The minutes conclude on April 12, 1883, although they reference their next meeting, indicating that the organization continued beyond this date.
