Brigham Young University. University Information Systems
Biographical History
The University Information Systems (1985-1992) was formed in 1985 as part of the reorganization of Computer Services at Brigham Young University. The Executive Director William H. Gardner served until 1991, then he was replaced by Kelly C. McDonald and the title was changed to Managing Director.
The University Information System (UNIS) consisted of all machinery, data, systems, programs and personnel involved in or affected by the information processing technology of the University. This technology included computers, telephones, television and their networks. It also included print/copy processes and storage/retrieval systems. Three support organizations formed a family of UNIS academic support services: Print Services, Media Services, and Information System Services.
