Administrative History
The Department of Agricultural Economics (1935-1989) was an instructional unit at Brigham Young University. The department taught courses in marketing, farm management, finance, and economic history.
The Department of Agricultural Economics was established in 1935 within the College of Commerce. Initially treated as a degree program within the Department of Economics, by the mid-1940s it was had become an independent department. It taught courses leading to a bachelor's degree, and later a master's degree in agribusiness management. It was transferred to the College of Biological and Agricultural Sciences in 1955, and remained in the College of Biology and Agriculture when it was established in 1983. In 1989 the department was discontinued.
