Administrative History
The Department of Industrial Arts (1948-1954) was an instructional unit at Brigham Young University. The department provided course work for teacher education and vocational training in the industrial arts.
The Department of Industrial Arts was established in 1948 when the earlier Department of Mechanic Arts was renamed. The department was administsered by the College of Applied Science. It taught courses in mechanics, drawing, and engineering leading to a bachelor's degree. In 1954 the department was reorganized as the Department of Industrial Arts and Drawing.
The department chair was William H. Snell.
