The Department of Environmental Design (1970-1973) was a department in the College of Family Living at Brigham Young University.
The Department of Environmental Design was established in 1970 in the College of Family Living as part of a reorganization of the Department of Housing and and Home Management. Milo R. Baughman served as department chairman. In 1973 the department was renamed the Department of Interior Design.
The Department of Environmental Design was organized to train students in improving the condition of our natural environment. It consisted of four fields, that of environmental landscape and urban design; environmental product design; environmental graphic design; designer of interior environmental (professional); and designer of interior environmental (major).
