Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (1924-) is a motion picture, television, home video, and theatrical production and distribution company.

Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) was established in 1924 as a merger between Metro Pictures Corp., Goldwyn Pictures, and Louis B. Mayer Productions. MGM experienced a "golden three decades" between 1924 and 1954, in which it produced a Best Picture nominee every year for 20 years straight. In 1939, both Gone With the Wind and The Wizard of Oz were nominated for Best Picture. Gone With the Wind won, along with eight other Oscars, and The Wizard of Oz won two Oscars. MGM has over 175 Oscars across its library.

Scope and Contents This series of 38 boxes contains material on a variety of projects begun but not completed by DeMille from 1916 to 1960. Some files contain only a story or synopsis. Other files indicate that considerable time and expense went into certain projects before they were suddenly cancelled. Subjects include the apocalyptic saga entitled End of the World; a controversial story about Mary, the mother of Christ, which had a working title of Queen of Queens; Rurales, a massively researched project...

Scope and Contents The videotapes in this series are from 16 mm Prints of the 35 mm nitrate prints preserved at the George Eastman House of Photograph, Rochester, New York. They were recorded on half-inch VHS videotape (NTSC standard) and consist of 34 feature films produced during the silent film years.
