Nurses at War project was sponsored by Brigham Young University to collect stories and records of Latter-day Saint nurses who had served in combat.
The Nurses at War project was sponsored by the Brigham Young University Department of Religion and the College of Nursing. It aimed to collect the stories, diaries, photographs, and other records of Latter-day Saint nurses who had served in combat. The project’s idea was formed by Patricia Rushton, who eventually co-authored the culminating publication, "Latter-day Saint Nurses at War: A Story of Caring and Sacrifice." Other co-authors included Lynn C. Callister, and Maile K. Wilson. It was published in 2005 by the Religious Studies Center of Brigham Young University in Provo, Utah.

Jay Nielsen autobiography
Typed autobiography. Nielsen joined the Army in 1969 and was trained as a medic. He writes about his many experiences in combat during his deployment in Vietnam.
Mary Harris Olson autobiography
Typed autobiography. Olsen was from Blanding, Utah, and she was trained as a nurse at the University of Utah. During the war, she served in Camp Roberts in California. She married Ernest Olson in 1944.
Eula Louise Peterson autobiography
Typewritten autobiography. Peterson joined the United States Navy in 1942 and was trained at Mare Island. She was later deployed to the South Pacific in 1945.
Betty Jo Carter Reiser autobiography
Typed autobiography. Reiser writes about her training as a nurse at the L.D.S. Hospital in Salt Lake City, Utah, and about her service in the U.S. Army Cadet Nurse Corps. She also writes about her courtship and marriage to A. Hamer Reiser on 7 January 1946.
Patricia Rushton autobiography
Typewritten autobiography. Rushton writes about her experiences as a nurse when assigned to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, her faith in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-days Saints, and her service in the Navy Reserves. She was called up during operation Desert Storm.

This file contains a floppy disk (3 1/4 inch) and five optical discs containing 122 biographies as part of the LDS Nurses at War project. They were collected by Patricia Rushton. Materials are dated 2001 to 2003.
Henrietta Oberlander Thomas autobiography
Typed autobiography. Thomas served in Hawaii where she met her husband, Thayne L. Thomas. They married on 15 May 1947. She writes about her training and her service. Also included are letters she wrote in 1945.
Doris Thompson autobiography
Typed short paragraph states that Doris Thompson was indeed a nurse during World War II.
Karla Paul Tripp autobiography
Typewritten autobiography. Tripp served as a nurse at the Navy Hospital at Mare Island, California. She married Boyd Tripp on 25 June 1947.
Ellen Poelman Warner autobiography
Typed autobiography. Warner graduated from East High School in Salt Lake City, Utah, in 1942 and began classes at the University of Utah that year. She graduated in 1946. She married Don Warner in 1959.
