Biography

The Church of Christ (Brewsterites) (1849-1851) was a schismatic church part of the Latter Day Saint movement.

The Church of Christ (Brewsterites) was founded in 1849 by James C. Brewster and Hazen Aldrich, when they returned to Kirtland, Ohio after the death of Joseph Smith. After declaring that he had received a revelation to establish the headquarters of the church in a place called "Bashan" in the Rio Grande Valley, Brewster led his followers on a wagon train expedition. On the way, disagreements arose, and most of his followers went to California. Brewster eventually went to California as well, and the church was never reestablished.
