Administrative History

The College of Engineering and Technology (1984-2004) was an administrative unit at Brigham Young University.

The College of Engineering and Technology, previously the College of Engineering Sciences and Technology, was established in 1984 within Brigham Young University and continued under its name until it was established as the Ira A. Fulton College of Engineering and Technology in 2004. Between 1984 and 2004, the college was administered by deans L. Douglas Smoot and Douglas M. Chabries.

The College of Engineering and Technology was the administering body for the following departments and school: Chemical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Education, Technology, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering and Technology, Manufacturing Engineering and Engineering Technology, Technology Education and Construction Management, Civil and Environmental Engineering, and the School of Technology. The college was administered by a dean under the direction of the president of the university.
