Sam F. Brewster Building (Provo, Utah)
Administrative History
The Sam F. Brewster building (1962- ) is a building on Brigham Young University Campus.
Built in 1962 to consolidate the Physical Plant functions in one location, the Sam F. Brewster Building was developed by Sam F. Brewster, Director of the Department of Physical Plant, and architects Lorenzo S. Young and Partners. Constructed on two levels with an inner and outer court, the Brewster Building has a unique design that allows shops at all levels to have dock access. Until 1974 the building was known simply as the Physical Plant Building. In 1974, at the retirement of Sam F. Brewster, the building was renamed in his honor.
The function of the Sam F. Brewster Building is nearly identical today to its original use in 1962. The Physical Facilities administrative offices, warehouse and most of the shops are located in the building.
