Administrative History

Campus Tours and Conferences (1961-1972) was an administrative unit at Brigham Young University. The office was responsible for providing campus tours, and promoting the external use of campus facilities for conferences.

The office of Campus Tours and Conferences was established 1961 within the Public Relations Division, providing an organizational home for the university's earlier Bureau of Information. The office was provided tours of university facilities for off-campus groups, and promoted the use of campus for conferences and workshops. The office initially operated as part of the Public Relations Division, and remained in that unit after it changed names to the University Relations Unit in 1964. In 1972 the office was renamed Campus Information, Tours and Conferences.

Chairs of the office included C. LaVar Rockwood (1961-1963), A. Sterling Workman (1963-1966), Collin Allan (1966-1970), Gary R. Bascom (1970-1972).
