The Society of the Sigma Xi (1886- ) is an honor society for research scientists and engineers.

The Society of the Sigma Xi was founded by Frank Van Vleck at Cornell University in 1886. With over 500 chapters throughout the world, the program supports scientific enterprise, rewards students in research, and seeks to unite students and scholars in all fields of science.
