Biography

The Bank of Ephraim (1905-2004) provided $4.8 million in 125 accounts in Utah in Ephraim, Mount Pleasant, and Hildale, and Colorado City, Arizona.

The Bank of Ephraim was established in 1905 by H.P. Larsen at Ephraim, Utah. The bank exapnded into four branches in Ephraim, Mount Pleasant, and Hildale, Utah and Colorado City, Arizona. In 2004, the bank was closed on charges of embezzlement from high risk loans and neglect to charge interest for certain clients. The Bank was taken over by Far West Bank, which now manages its former offices and accounts.

Scope and Contents

This collection consists of 1 letterpress book. All the letters but one are by H. P. Larsen and are regarding his music business. The other letter is by CJ Fisher, and is written oon Bank of Ephraim letterhead. There is also a typescript of the contents of the letterpress book (7 pages), and photocopy of "Saga of the Sanpitach" 24:125-138, which is a history of the founding of the bank.
